The “Montessori Method,” established by Dr. Maria Montessori, includes respecting a child’s individuality and emphasizes social interaction and education of their whole personality. By helping them realize their highest potential – physically, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually – they become valuable members of their family, community, and world.

Montessori is always current because of its dynamic nature of using observation as a pathway to meeting the continual and specific needs of each child. Through what Dr. Maria Montessori called a “prepared environment” the child builds on what they can do, gradually absorbing and accomplishing more and more skills and knowledge. The child increases in self-motivation and self-discipline within this environment. Classrooms of mixed age groups serve children of all levels of mental and physical abilities – which is very much like the society they will grow to live in as adults. This supportive environment contributes to the high level of academic achievement Montessori is known for.

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” - Maria Montessori

Treetops Montessori is owned and operated by Jake and Shelby Hill educators in  the Sturbridge, Southbridge & Brookfield communities.  The facility has two spacious, child-oriented classrooms to enhance self-direction, organizational, and fine-motor skills. Treetops is located in beautiful Fiskdale, MA on over 1 acre of land for discovering, gardening, exploration, and developing gross-motor skills.

In 2019, Treetops celebrates our 45th year in the tri-community area, and continues the mission of providing a "prepared environment," possessing certain order and allowing children to learn at their own capacity in a non-competitive atmosphere. The many different areas of the classroom (listed on right) help teach academics as well as social skills. Together we build a peaceful classroom where harmony, kindness, and acceptance are encouraged.
